However, the quicker you learn about it, the more comfortably you can adapt as a new mum. Here are quick facts to get you acquainted with being a new mum.
What Is the New Normal?
  • As a new mum, your life will change entirely due to hormonal and emotional imbalance.  Your hormones will rapidly change. You might also have to battle backaches, piles, constipation, and the likes. Nevertheless, you have to keep up with breastfeeding your baby. This is a whole new level of challenge for you as a new mum.

  • Again, you would be deprived of sleep in the night, mostly because of your baby's cries. This also could be very uncomfortable for your partner, who probably is a wage earner. It is advised that you sleep in separate rooms to reduce the stress for your partner.

  • Yes, your daily life will be significantly altered by your newborn. Also, your body shape will change, and you would gain more weight. Your dressing will be affected. Not to worry, the challenge of your weight gain can be handled by a therapist.

In conclusion, ensure you rest and eat well in the middle of the stress. Take little walks and seek recommendations from therapists. Of course, you want to be in good health to take care of the baby!

  1. All mums i must say experienced most, all or even more than what is in this article. It's a reality that you can never be too prepared for but like you rightly said one has to be in the right state of health to be able to take care of a baby, therefore taking good care of yourself first must be a priority.

  3. I am not blessed to be a father yet, but with my new bride, I do hope that we can tackle all the changes that come with parenthood together. I do worry about her physically post partum as it was hard on my own mother both internally and externally after my sister was born. So, I am glad you shared this with me so I can have a better insight.

  5. I'm used in staying at home with the kids because I'm a WAHM. This can be pretty challenging for some but I'm sure we can all get through this.

  6. I can't wait for this to happen. I am having some problems with infertility. If I ever get the chance for pregnancy to happen... I want it all. Although, breast feeding scares especially since I just learned about candida mastitis. I want to do it and I want the sleepless nights.

  8. i'm not a mother myself but would love to be sometime in the future. I'm always so thankful for my mother for carrying me and keeping us both healthy because emotionally and physically it is such a tool. She would also take frequent walks daily!
